Bacari PDR
The third restaurant from the Kronfli Brothers and Chef Lior Hillel, this Italian style restaurant is to die for. Located just a block away from the beach, you can eat a meal with an ocean view. According to their website, “the kitchen serves a variety of cicchetti (Italian style small plates). The bar features specialty cocktails, craft beers, and small production wines from all around the world.” Ranked by tastingtable.com as one of the best new bars and ranked the 2nd best new restaurant in LA by GAYOT, it is definitely worth stopping in for a bite!
The Tripel
“Modern American Dining” is what The Tripel has been coined, and boy are they right. “Locally sourced and crafted with love,” The Tripel serves “the Playa del Rey community with outstanding craft beer and quality food just a short stroll from the Pacific,” according to their site. From the duo that brought you the Hudson House and Playa Provisions, Brooke Williamson and Nick Roberts serve to delight your taste buds. Enjoy the community atmosphere and grab a beer at one of the communal tables offered. Or sit down and eat Tripel bites—steamed mussels and clams, the Tripel burger, or balsamic marinated onion rings, to name a few of the amazing menu items. You can also swing by Tripli-Kit—the culinary store featuring cookbooks and kitchen supplies through the backdoor of the restaurant!
Playa Provisions
Playa Provisions serves up food from the same master chefs who fed you at The Triple. Playa Provisions is located within one 7,000 square-foot beachside building. Inside the building there is an ice cream shop called Small Batch with homemade-in-house ice creams, a casual market counter serving breakfast and lunch, called King Beach, a back-room whisky bar called Grain, and a more high-end dining space dedicated to seasonal seafood fare, called Dockside. “Inspired by the city's "country marts," the four separate, yet cohesive dining experiences provide a taste for everyone,” says their website!
Cantalini’s Salerno Beach Restaurant
A landmark for over 50 years, Cantalini’s presents classic Italian cuisine. Giovanni Cimino came to California from Salerno, Italy in the 1960’s and opened up a restaurant with food that was a simple reflection of the old world. What made Cantalini’s so unique was Giovanni’s colorful personality. Giovanni would decorate with eclectic decorations every Christmas and even spontaneously sing opera with the customers. The stories of Giovanni’s reign as owner of Cantalini are what make the restaurant unique to this day. Though currently owned by a family from Abruzzi, Italy, the handmade pastas and sauces are still the recipes that have been passed down through generations. For a truly unique and authentic Italian experience, Cantalini’s is the place to go!
