This weekend, one of our favorite Westside / South Bay traditions is back. For those of us who have grown up with a love for all things Volleyball—including our own Colin, who played competitively for much of his life—there's no event quite like the Manhattan Beach Open. The MBO isn't just a tournament; it's the heart of our beach culture, and this year’s competition is shaping up to be truly historic.
The 2025 Manhattan Beach Open, an AVP Gold Series event, is returning to its home at the Manhattan Beach Pier. This tournament reigns as the epicenter of the beach volleyball world, drawing decorated Olympians and champions to compete for a chance at immortality. The four athletes who take home the titles will have their names etched into the permanent Volleyball Walk of Fame on the pier—an honor that solidifies their place in the sport’s history.
