In a powerful display of community spirit and civic collaboration, Mayor Karen Bass and billionaire developer Rick Caruso, once political adversaries, have come together to announce a significant rebuilding project in the Pacific Palisades. The focus? The beloved Palisades Recreation Center on Alma Real Drive, a cherished neighborhood gathering place damaged by the devastating fire on January 7th.
This unexpected alliance, revealed at a productive event in Palisades, signals a commitment to putting community needs above political differences. Now, thanks to substantial private donations from Caruso's philanthropic group, Steadfast LA, and L.A. Strong Sports, a group founded by Lakers coach and Palisades resident JJ Redick, the $30 million redesign and rebuilding effort is set to begin.
