This Saturday, April 25, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, we are coming together for a community-wide Brush Clearance Day. Whether you're a long-time resident or new to the area, this is the perfect time to help clear hazardous vegetation ahead of the official fire season.

The event is a true "all-hands-on-deck" effort, supported by Team Palisades, the Mayor’s Office, and the Pacific Palisades Community Council (PPCC).

Understanding the 2026 LAFD Brush Inspections

The LAFD is officially beginning its annual inspections on May 1, 2026. While the rules can feel tactical, the goal is simple: keeping our homes and neighbors safe.

What you need to know for 2026:

  • The Compliance Window: Ensure your property meets all brush clearance requirements by May 1 to pass your first inspection.

  • Fees & Exemptions: Passing your initial inspection means you avoid the $31 inspection fee. While some fire-affected properties may qualify for a fee exemption this year, all properties will still be inspected for safety compliance.

  • Avoid the "Gotchas": If a property fails the first inspection, a Notice of Non-Compliance will be issued. Fixing these issues promptly is key—failing a second inspection can lead to a $758 non-compliance fee.

Pro Tip: Tackling your brush clearance this Saturday with the community isn't just a great way to save on fees; it's the best way to ensure our "Very High Fire Hazard" zones are as resilient as possible before the summer heat arrives.

 

 

LADWP Update: Sunset Blvd "Backbone" Construction

You may have noticed a bit more activity along Sunset Boulevard recently. The LADWP has resumed work on the Sunset Boulevard Distribution System Corridor, often called the "Backbone" of our local power grid.

The Details:

  • The Work: Crews are installing an underground conduit system to house new power lines that will support Distribution Station 29 (DS-29).

  • The Benefit: This is a major win for the Palisades. It expands our power capacity, improves system redundancy, and lays the groundwork for more neighborhood undergrounding in the future.

  • Traffic Impact: Work is currently centered near Fire Station 69 and moving east. While lane closures are necessary, LADWP is keeping one lane open in each direction at all times. Construction hours are Monday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
