Surf and SUP Lessons in LA



Summer is here and we are beyond blessed to have the ocean minutes away. With that being said, we have curated a list of schools around the area that offer surfing and stand up paddleboard lessons. These lessons are perfect for people of all ages, so whether you’re trying to keep the kiddos busy during summer break or you’re trying to pick up a new hobby, we’ve got you covered! 


Fun Surf LA

Fun Surf LA is located in Venice Beach and they have tons of great options to choose from. They have group lessons suitable for beginners to intermediate levels with the age minimum being 12 years old and you can choose between a 1.5 hour class for $45 or a 2 hour class for $59. Wetsuits and surfboards are included in the price of the lesson. Aside from group lessons, you also have private and semi private lessons to choose from and the age requirement for these is seven years old. 


Pro SUP Shop

Located in Marina del Rey, Pro SUP Shop offers lessons for those of all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced paddler looking to refine your skills with a private lesson, they’ll have exactly what you’re looking for. Beginner and intermediate lessons start at $130 and they also have an introduction class for $50 and it welcomes anyone 13 years and up. Pro SUP also offers rentals and other services. 


Aloha Brothers Surf Lessons

Also located in Venice Beach is the Aloha Brothers Surf Lessons who also offer a variety of lessons and packages to choose from. Group lessons start at $85 and private lessons start at $160. You can also ask about their lessons offered in other languages such as Spanish, French and Portuguese.


Poseidon Paddle and Surf

Located in Santa Monica this is your one stop shop for experiencing both adventures. Surf lessons start at $130 for two hours and it includes a lesson with a private instructor, surfboard and wetsuit. SUP lessons start at $140 for two hours and it also includes the board, paddle and wetsuit if needed. Location can either be Santa Monica, Malibu or Marina del Rey.
