The holiday season on the Westside is defined by unique local traditions, and none are quite as charming or totally "Venice" as the Annual Venice Canals Holiday Boat Parade.

This year marks the 44th running of the parade, a celebrated community event that illuminates the historic waterways and underscores the vibrant, artistic spirit of the Venice Canals neighborhood.

A Beloved Local Tradition Since 1983

Held since 1983, the parade is less about grand, motorized vessels and more about pure, neighborly creativity. Residents who live along the canals transform their small boats, rowboats, kayaks, and even stand-up paddleboards into floating works of art, decked out with thousands of twinkling lights, tinsel, and whimsical decorations. The homes and bridges along the canals often join in, making the entire district a walkable light display.

It’s a truly democratic, community-led event that showcases the best of Venice ingenuity and holiday cheer.

Event Details and Viewing

The parade takes place This Sunday, December 14th, kicking off at 4:00 p.m.

  • Parade Start: The procession begins at the intersection of the Eastern and Carroll Canals (the canals are a short distance from the beach and Ocean Front Walk).

  • The Experience: Spectators are encouraged to stroll the charming pedestrian bridges that arch over the canals. The unique vantage points offer a close-up view of the decorated "floats" and the opportunity to share a collective moment of holiday joy, perhaps with a cup of hot cocoa in hand.
