There is a unique brand of resilience in Palisades. Just over a year after the January 2025 wildfire upended our community, the progress at Palisades Charter High School stands as an example of what’s possible when the Westside pulls together.

For our own Colin Wellman, this isn't just a neighborhood headline—it’s personal. As a Pali High alum, Colin knows firsthand the role this school plays as the heartbeat of the community. While the official return to campus this past January was a massive milestone, the "continued recovery" isn't just about rebuilding walls; it’s about restoring the programs, athletics, and spirit that defined his time there and continue to shape the next generation of Dolphins.

The Main Event: Jay Leno Headlines the "Stand Up for Pali" Gala

On Saturday, March 14, 2026, the community will gather at the Luxe Hotel Sunset for the annual "Stand Up for Pali" gala and auction. The headliner? Legendary comedian and longtime Palisades neighbor Jay Leno.

Leno, who was famously seen supporting local crews during the height of the 2025 blaze, is doubling down on his commitment. He is not only performing his iconic stand-up set but is reportedly donating his entire appearance fee back to the school to ensure the rebuild reaches the finish line.

Recovery Beyond the Classroom

The funds raised at this year’s gala are earmarked for the "soft tissue" of the school’s recovery—the elements insurance often misses:

  • The Arts & Athletics: Re-equipping the visual and performing arts programs and supporting the championship-level athletic teams that make Pali a regional powerhouse.

  • Student Mental Health: Funding ongoing support services for the students and faculty who faced significant displacement.

  • The Long-Term Vision: While 36 modular classrooms are currently bridging the gap, the goal is a fully restored, wildfire-resilient campus targeted for 2028.

A Night of Community Synergy

The gala represents more than just a fundraiser; it’s a celebration of the Pali spirit. In addition to Leno’s performance, the night features a high-stakes silent auction with items ranging from luxury travel packages to a Bvlgari Serpenti Forever handbag.
