Usually when you hear the words “sharks” and “pier” together, it is not a good combination. But Santa Monica is shaking things up a bit with it’s Shark Sunday’s at Santa Monica Pier!
Every Sunday at 3:30 p.m. you and your kids can learn about these often misunderstood creatures. Watch and listen to an informative presentation while horn and swell sharks cruise around the tank, putting on a show while anticipating the meal to come. You can even expect a splash of seawater if you’re close enough to the exhibit.
While at the aquarium, don’t forget to stop by the touch tanks with your kiddos. The tanks have everything from hermit crabs to sea urchins, so it’s sure to keep your junior marine biologist entertained!
In addition to the touch tanks, there are multiple exhibits for your kids to spend the afternoon watching. You can check out the “Rocky Reef,” an exhibit full of moray eels found in the Pacific, or the “Sea Jellies,” an exhibit that full of moon jellies. There are also exhibits that highlight the noteworthy critters that the dive team finds on their expeditions, and exhibits full of baby sharks, anemones and fish. Your child can spend the whole afternoon wandering around this little, educational aquarium.
The Shark Sunday’s take place at 3:30 pm every Suday, but the aquarium is open Sundays from 12:30pm through 5:00pm. If you can’t make it for Shark Sunday’s but still want to swing by the aquarium, the winter hours are listed below!
