In our last blog we talked about how Friday nights in Venice beach are impossible to miss, now we’re telling you to pencil off your Thursday nights as well!
Every Thursday night all summer long the Santa Monica pier hosts the Summer Twilight Dance series, and with summer quickly coming to a close there is only one more chance for you to enjoy a night out on the pier listening to some of the hottest new music.
The concerts are free for all, and with a new artist each week you will never get bored!
On Thursday night indie artists Tune-Yards and Avid Dancer will take the stage to entertain the entire pier with their eclectic music. Tune-Yards is an indie artist whose music is inspired by everything from Afrobeat rhythms and American soul to hip-hop and R&B. LA Weekly has called her music "something new entirely, a kind of found-art musical collage." While Avid Dancer is an indie band with an entirely new sound to it.
The concert begins at 7:00 pm but we recommend you get there early, because the pier fills up fast! Families and young adults alike bring blankets and picnic out on the pier while listening to the music. You can also cuddle up down on the beach, where it’s a little less crowded, but you can still hear the tunes just fine!
There is a large parking lot near the pier with $8 parking for the concert, but many people just ride their bikes there. There is also free bike valet starting at 6:30 pm in the parking lot north of City Hall on the nights of the event!
It is a family friendly event, so alcohol is not allowed. But on the brightside your furry little best friend is allowed as long as the dog is leashed!
