At Campbell Wellman, we believe in the power of community, and right now, our hearts are with the students, families, and staff of Palisades Charter High School. In the wake of the devastating Palisades fire, their unwavering spirit shines brightly as they navigate the path toward rebuilding and restoring normalcy.
The search for a temporary home has been a testament to their resilience. And now, there's a glimmer of hope: the iconic, yet adaptable, former Sears building in downtown Santa Monica is being considered as a temporary campus. This possibility represents more than just a physical space; it symbolizes the community's commitment to providing stability and support for our students during a challenging time.

Dr. Pamela Magee, the school's executive director and principal, has been a beacon of optimism, assuring everyone that progress is being made. While contract negotiations can present hurdles, the determination to find a solution is palpable. Her words, "We think that we’ll get it all resolved quickly," resonate with the unwavering hope that defines this journey.
The need for in-person learning is paramount. It’s about more than just academics; it’s about providing a sense of normalcy, fostering connections, and ensuring students have the support they need to thrive. As Dr. Magee so eloquently expressed, "We have a unique opportunity to show the strength and resilience of our community in the face of adversity."
This potential relocation to the Sears building, a space that has seen various transformations, speaks to the adaptability and resourcefulness of our community. Once envisioned as a hub for science fiction and fantasy, it now holds the possibility of becoming a place of learning and growth for our students.
At Campbell Wellman, we understand the importance of home, whether it’s a residence or a school. We are inspired by the unwavering spirit of Palisades Charter High School (our founder, Colin Wellman's alma mater) and their dedication to providing a nurturing environment for their students. We are hopeful that this temporary solution will pave the way for a brighter future, where students can once again learn, grow, and thrive together.
This story is a reminder that even in the face of adversity, our community’s strength and resilience will always shine through. We're rooting for Palisades High, and we're confident that together, they will rebuild and emerge stronger than ever.
