Need a Bike Share in Silicon Beach? Check out Santa Monica's Bike Sharing program. A great way to get around, leave the car at home and do a bike share.
In 2016 you can share your car with Zipcar, you can share your apartment with Airbnb, and you can even share your dog with Bark N’ Barrow! So it’s not that far fetched to imagine that bike sharing is the next big craze!
In Santa Monica the bike sharing site is called Breeze, and like most sharing services, all you need to do to get started is download an app!
About Breeze
According to their website “Breeze is a public bike share program brought to you by the City of Santa Monica and built to empower personal mobility, heighten livability, augment existing transit, stimulate economic growth, and promote an active and healthy lifestyle for residents and visitors in Santa Monica.” There are 75 Breeze Hubs located conveniently in Santa Monica with additional hubs in Venice.
The bikes provide a convenient, affordable and healthy way to travel through Santa Monica!
How It Works
It’s easy to get started with Breeze, all you have to do to reserve a bike through their website, app or kiosk! Once prompted, you’ll enter your four-digit pin using the keypad on the bike. To release the bike pull out the yellow lock bar and place it in the holster. Now you’re good to go! When you decide to take a pit stop, simply chain the bike to any bike rack and use the “hold” button by the keypad. All you have to do when you return is put in your 4-digit code and you’re good to take off again! To end your trip, just return and lock the bike to a Breeze station, it’s really that easy!
Plans and Pricing
For infrequent riders, there are a few Basic Plans to choose from! There is the smallest plan that simply charges you $6 for every hour you ride, the monthly plan that costs $20 a month with 30 free minutes of riding a day, and the annual plan that costs $119 a year with 30 free minutes of riding a day! There are also 60 minute plans that range from $25 to $149!
