It’s almost that time of year again: back to school time! If you’re a parent you might be breathing a giant sigh of relief. Or you might be stressing about making sure your child is attending the best school for their educational needs.
Its hard to find a school that both you and your child are happy with, but we do have a list of schools in Silicon Beach that have pretty high approval rates.
Westminster Avenue Elementary School
If your child has a knack for math and sciences then Westminster is the place for them! At Westminster the mission statement states, “Our program is especially geared toward children who have a love for computers, math, and making the world a better place. All students in this culturally diverse magnet school use computers as a part of their routine, employing a wide variety of strategies to produce student-generated discussions and multimedia projects.” This way of teaching challenges the students who would get bored in the usual classroom setting, and skyrockets those children to success.
Westminster is a “challenging and exciting program that involves hands-on experiences.” This hands-on experience changes the way your child learns, keeping them interested and learning throughout their time there.
Westside Global Awareness
This magnet school focuses on giving children the “knowledge needed to interact productively and respectfully with people from diverse areas,” says their Mission Statement. A school that focuses it’s time and resources into teaching your children how to be better communicators, Westside “teaches global awareness through small-group interactions, peer coaching, and structured activities. Students learn to be critical thinkers, studying world issues from an environmental perspective; reflecting on cultural diversity, economics, politics, and real life issues. With competence in global awareness, students develop conflict resolution skills, self-esteem, and collaborative decision-making abilities.”
If communication and interacting with people is what your child thrives off of, then this K-8 school is a great choice for them!
Venice High School
Best known for its role as Rydell High in the 1978 classic staring Olivia Newton John and John Travolta, this high school is “The One That You Want” to go to.
Grease puns aside, this is truly one of the best high schools in Venice Beach to send your child to. The school features an “Earth Justice Academy,” which focuses on giving teens a “strong foundation in academics within the fields of Law, Environmental Science, Computer Technology, Green Engineering, Small Business and Social Justice.”
It is also a STEMM Magnet school that is perfect for students interested in science and mathematics. Students in this department will have a choice of 2 pathways—Engineering and Biomedical Science.

There is also a World Language and Global Studies Academy for the young diplomat in your house. “Our program seeks to empower students to use language as a professional tool, while also achieving awareness of global issues related to human rights, the economy and diplomacy.”
