One of the best parts about summer, are all of the blockbuster hits that get released! From romantic-comedies to animated films to action flicks, there are so many options to choose from! So pop some popcorn, buy a box of candy, and fill up that big cup of coca-cola as we break down the summer hollywood hits that we are most excited to see!
Deadpool 2 (May 18)
The foul-mouthed superhero is back, and this time he’s brought friends. Deadpool 2 follows the group of heroes as they protect a young boy with supernatural abilities from a villain cyborg, Cable. Though this is a superhero flick, it is not suitable for children, and is rated R.
Solo (May 25)
This highly anticipated Star Wars spin-off series follows a young Han Solo, played by Alden Ehrenreich, as he travels through a galaxy far, far away. Solo is an action packed adventure that takes place within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld. While there Han Solo meets his future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian. Though not as critically acclaimed as other Star Wars spin-offs, it is still reminscent of the Star Wars universe that we all know and love.
Ocean’s 8 (June 8)
This superb cast of hilarious women come together to give us one of the most anticipated movies of the summer. Follow these 8 women as they pull of the heist of the century. This all-female spin off to the George Clooney and Brad Pitt “Ocean’s” movies stars a powerhouse cast including Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson and Helena Bonham Carter.
Incredibles 2 (June 15)
Millennials rejoice! The sequel to one of the best animated movies of the early 2000’s is finally here! This time, Elastigirl is going back to work, leaving Mr. Incredible home alone with their three kids. Did we mention the kids also have superpowers? Including the baby, Jack-Jack who has no idea how to control his powers. Chaos ensues as the Incredible family shows just how incredible they are.
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (June 22)
Join Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard as they venture back into Jurassic World in this 2018 sequel. Four years after the Jurassic World theme park closed, the two return to Isla Nublar to save the dinosaurs when they learn that a once dormant volcano on the island is active and is threatening to extinguish all life there. While there, they uncover a conspiracy that could disrupt the natural order of the entire planet.
Mission: Impossible - Fallout (July 27)
Tom Cruise is back to do the impossible. According to the movie’s wikipedia page, “When an IMF mission ends badly, the world is faced with dire consequences. As Ethan Hunt takes it upon himself to fulfill his original briefing, the CIA begins to question his loyalty and his motives. Hunt finds himself in a race against time, hunted by assassins and former allies while trying to prevent a global catastrophe.”
Crazy Rich Asians (August 17)
Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, Crazy Rich Asians follows Rachel Chu, an American-born Chinese economics professor, who travels to her boyfriend Nick's hometown of Singapore for his best friend's wedding. It doesn’t take long for her to find out that the man she has been seeing has a huge secret: his family is rich. Oh, he’s also perhaps the most eligible bachelor in Asia, , and every single woman in his social class is incredibly jealous of Rachel and wants to bring her down.
